Hair transplantation used to be a scary or daunting task for many. But today, with new techniques, various innovative instruments and devices, including the expertise of highly experienced doctors, it is transformed into an easy, comfortable and hassle-free matter.
When a patient trustfully leaves the future of their hair in the hands of the doctor, the rest to do is just to understand the process of hair transplantation and to take good care of himself/herself.
Here are the easy steps for preparing yourself before kicking off your hair transplantation with NEAT technique, exclusive to NAMNIN. ….Let's follow the steps comfortably on the path to the naturally beautiful hair that will transform you into a new person.
1st Step - Before hair transplantation
NAMNIN delivers a worry-free hair transplantation experience from the very first step. Start with talking with the doctor to come up with a satisfactory hair problem treatment plan. At this stage, we recommend you to share your concerns, needs and expectations with the doctor frankly. If you have any concerns, doubts, or you have your dream hairstyle after getting hair transplantation, tell your doctor right away.
The doctor will then assess the treatment approach best suited to the problem condition as well as the patient's needs. The accurate number of hair grafts to be taken from the lower back part of the head for further implanting in the desired area will be determined. The doctor will design a new hairline on the basis of the Golden Ratio principle. This is to create the facial proportion right for each patient, and to make him or her look more attractive or youthful after the hair transplantation is completed.
Most importantly, don’t forget to prepare yourself following these guidelines before the day of hair transplantation or called ‘the day of surgery’:
Let the doctor knows if you have any medical condition, history of drug allergy, including details of medication as well as vitamin supplements regularly taken.
Abstain from certain drugs or vitamins that cause the blood clotting disorders such as aspirin, fish oil, vitamin E, a week before the day of surgery.
Abstain from smoking 1 week before the day of surgery.
Abstain from drinking alcohol 1 day before receiving the hair transplantation.
2nd Step – The Day of Surgery
Don't be anxious. Just relax! This is another easy step that the stress is not with the patients, but the surgeon instead. The surgeon will perform the surgery perfectly and meanwhile closely supervise the whole treatment process throughout the surgery day. The patients are asked to prepare themselves a little bit to ensure that they will experience the most comfortable day of surgery.
First things first, get enough sleep.
Eat a light breakfast as usual, but abstain from drinking tea or coffee to avoid caffeine.
Medications for diabetes or high blood pressure can be taken as usual.
Wash your hair as directed by your doctor.
Wear comfortable clothes, a button-front shirt is recommended as it can be easily taken off and won’t affect the scalp after the surgery.
On the day of surgery, your doctor will start the procedure with a scalp anesthetic injection. Then the hair grafts will be taken from the lower back of the head by using a special technique to hide the wounds in a stepped manner. These hair grafts will be implanted in the desired area by using a special 0.60 mm implanter, resulting in tiny wounds and faster wound healing. This can be proven by the voices of our patients, guaranteeing that it doesn't hurt at all.
3rd Step – Right after getting hair transplantation
The third step, right after getting the hair transplantation, there are some do’s and dont’s recommended for the patients. Actually, with Dr. Nin's NEAT hair transplantation technique, our patient can return to work and resume usual activities right after the treatment without recovery. The only thing to be concerned is trying not to touch the implanted hair graft.
First, take the medicine as prescribed by the doctor.
Abstain from drinking alcohol and smoking for 3-5 days.
Avoid touching or scratching the wounds, where the hair grafts are implanted, because it may cause your hair grafts fall out. Don’t worry about the scabs, they will naturally and gradually fall off within 2 weeks.
You could wash your hair yourself, following your doctor’s advice. Wash your hair gently with room temperature water and mild shampoo or shampoo recommended by the doctor. Patients can wash their hair like this every day.
Be aware of head impacts that may occur from daily activities such as getting in & out of the car because it will affect the newly implanted hair grafts.
Avoid dust, smoke and chemicals.
Patients are able to perform their daily activities as usual. However, it is recommended that you abstain from strenuous exercises, including saunas and swimming, for a month.
Eat different types of food as usual.
Using hair styling products can be done about 2 weeks after hair transplantation.
Avoid hair dyeing or perming for a month.
4th Step – One year after hair transplantation
The fourth step is known as the ‘Last Step’ that may take a little longer. Even if the hair grafts have been implanted perfectly, we need to wait and let them grow gradually according to the natural hair growth cycle. The forthcoming result is worth waiting for, we guarantee.
The path of hair transplantation does not end here. The patient will remain in the care of the doctor for another full year. You will normally have the follow up appointments with your doctor periodically. Different stages of hair growth are as follows:
1 month after hair transplantation, the patient will notice stubble hairs with the length of 2-4 millimeters approximately.
After 2 – 4 weeks, the newly grown hair will fall out, deemed as normal life cycle of hair.
In the 4th – 6th month after transplantation procedure, the new hair will begin to grow consistently.
Until the 9th month, you will notice the healthy and natural looking hair with the satisfactory density.
At the end of one-year waiting period ...Congratulations, you have reached the finish line... Your hair will fully grow, look dense and naturally blend in with the original hair.
A note from the doctor: for an important period of 1 year, if the patients early know and understand the information well, each step of hair transplantation will go on more smoothly.
The First Two Weeks –The thrilling time
The first 2 weeks are the most critical after undergoing the hair transplantation procedure. It can be called “A thin line between Rise and Fall”. During this period, the new capillaries surrounding the hair follicles are still connected incompletely. Therefore oxygen and essential nutrients cannot be fully transported to hair cells.
At the same time, the platelets in the transplanted area are gradually hardened and become scabs. If we take care of the hair and scalp improperly like touching or scratching, you may experience the hair grafts falling out, or bleeding. Some patients experience the scalp pimples caused by clogged pores that may lead to hair root inflammation and eventually hair loss.
New hair needs special nourishment!!
After passing the first 2 weeks, it means that hair follicles are becoming firmly embedded in the scalp. It’s the time that the doctor usually recommends the LED Light Therapy or radiation of suitable wavelength to the patient. This helps in stimulating and accelerating the growth of hair follicles.
HAIR GROWTH TREATMENT is another option of hair treatment techniques. The patient’s own blood (platelets) is used, empowered by concentrated vitamins, to reduce inflammation, and stimulate the functioning of hair follicles, including nourishing the scalp. In addition, it makes hair follicles work more effectively, and in the meantime prevents the hair loss.
Get to know the Graft Shedding!!
About 2 - 4 weeks after hair transplantation, some patients may experience ‘Graft Shedding’ or ‘Shock Loss’, the newly transplanted hair gradually fall out by approximately 80% before entering the resting phase resulting in no new hair grows at all for 1-2 months.
But there’s nothing to worry about because this is a completely normal and natural process. The transplanted hair follicles are still firmly embedded under the scalp and will begin to grow in their place very soon during the next 4 months.
After the 4th month onwards, the delightful results of the hair transplantation will begin to appear. You will notice the new hair which is thicker, denser, healthier, natural-looking, and blending in with your original hair. After 1 year, your newly transplanted hair will fully grow and the hair follicle will remain permanently.
Hopefully, these Easy Steps will help all newbies who are preparing for receiving the hair transplantation, see a sketch of the hair transplantation process and understand the practices as well as recommendations clearer. NEAT technique has been designed to make the patients comfortable and get the best experience of hair transplantation.
