After undergoing the hair transplantation procedure, the first 2 weeks are the most critical. Especially during the first five days, the newly transplanted grafts required extra care because they are still fragile. In addition, the new capillaries surrounding the hair follicles are still connected incompletely. Therefore oxygen and essential nutrients cannot be fully transported to hair cells, and the platelets in the transplanted area are gradually hardened.
If take care of the hair and scalp improperly, you may experience the hair in the grafts falling out, or bleeding. Some patients experience the scalp pimples caused by clogged pores that may lead to hair root inflammation and eventually hair loss.
Two weeks after hair transplantation procedure, it is assured that the hair roots are deeply and firmly embedded. During this period, the doctor may schedule an appointment to follow up and examine the health and condition of the hair and scalp, as well as to assess the hair density. For continuous treatment, LED light therapy- wavelength of 650 nanometers which has been deemed as a safe and research-backed treatment, will be provided to stimulate hair follicles.

In addition, we also offer “Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)” treatment in which a patient's blood is drawn, processed, and then injected along with vitamins into the scalp. PRP helps in stimulating the hair follicles, promoting cell growth, wound healing, and reducing hair loss as well.

Therefore, the first 2 weeks can be called the decisive time for the survival of new hair. Special care is strongly required during this period. To be away from waving goodbye to your new precious hair, the below is how to treat your newly transplanted hair properly:
- It is normal to have an itchy scalp after a hair transplant because of the wound healing process. This symptom will gradually go away. Importantly, the patient should avoid touching or scratching the transplanted area, and removing the scabs or crusts;
- After the hair transplantation procedure, the red or dark brown scabs and crusts form due to dried blood and lymph. As these scabs protect the hair follicles in the initial period and keep the hair grafts firmed, removing the scabs may result in falling out of hair grafts. These scabs usually fall off in 1-2 weeks. The doctor may schedule an appointment to wash the patient’s hair and clean the scabs, or give an advice of proper hair wash to the patients for self-care at home;
- Avoid wearing hats or headscarf which may cause friction with the newly planted hair area;
- Protect your head against impacts, such as getting in or getting out of the car, etc.;
- Avoid exposure to heat such as the direct sunlight, hair dryer, warm water, hot yoga, or sauna, etc.;
- At least 3 days after hair transplantation, do not engage in heavy exercise or any other form of exertion. Then you can start taking small steps to reintroduce light exercise while avoid excessive sweating;
- Refrain from swimming for at least 1 month after hair transplantation;
- Sleep in the correct and appropriate posture, for example, if hair is implanted on the forehead, the patient should sleep on his/her back to prevent hair loss;
- Refrain from drinking alcohol;
- Eat healthy foods containing essential nutrients for hair such as proteins and vitamins, including take supplements as needed under the medical supervision.
Approximately 2-4 weeks after the procedure, it is quite normal that the patient expect to have “shock loss” which is temporary loss of transplanted grafts, about 80 percent. There is always a lag in hair regrowth (about 1-2 moths). Most patients worry that their hair transplant has been unsuccessful. But in fact, it is very common.
From the 4th month onwards, the satisfactory results of hair transplantation will be clearly visible. The patient will have the natural-looking, strong and dense hair with the same length as the native ones. Eventually, about 1- 1.5 years after undergoing the hair transplant procedure, the hair will grow healthily, strongly and permanently.
